The Neo is definitely at the top end of what you can purchase in a TV and the tech behind it represents a significant step forward for the world’s #1 TV manufacturer.
True to life visuals are the goal of every TV. You achieve that by increasing contrast, enhancing color, enabling higher resolutions and offering immersive design. The Samsung Neo QLED is the world’s first quantum matrix technology featuring quantum mini LED’s 1/40th the size of conventional LED. That allows more LED’s to be packed in the screen allowing for ultra-fine light control.
Previous Q models look amazing but they use backlighting through filters to create the image. More dimming zones meant a finer picture. That technology remains in the line for 2021 and it looks as good as ever. Neo represents a next-level breakthrough that will undoubtedly filter down in coming years. The 8K version of the Neo QLED features a tiny .8 millimeter bezel. The picture literally flows to the edge of the screen surface. Now that’s no reason to drop the serious coin on 8K of course, but the fact that all your 2K and 4K content is being upscaled to 8K may very well be.
Upscaling is the only real reason to buy an 8K set. Content just won’t be available for some time, but it is on the horizon. Taking existing content and ramping it up to 8K is the ultimate viewing experience. Bear in mind it’s still natively lower resolution. The better the ability of the processor to take advantage of the 33 million available pixels, the better your latest Netflix binge will look. No doubt, the Neo 8K QLED processor represents the most advanced processing chip ever designed.
Let’s get on to the price. With a price of $5499 for the flagship 85″ QN900, the new QN isn’t cheap. But, it’s less than it was last year for an improved model.
